Extending The Winter Ski Season

Steel pipe is helping make snow in ski resorts. Vertical turbines thrust water from lower level ponds for water transmission. At full capacity, 6” and 8” steel pipe transports 1500 gallons per minute of cold water into artificial snowmaking systems. At low temperatures and high altitudes, a typical snowmaker can create around 100 cubic meters (3600 cubic feet) of snow per hour. That's enough to put about an inch of snow down over an acre.
