Earth retention systems are designed and constructed to provide support when grade differs, and slope stability is an issue. The design of these permanent retaining structures must address soil displacement to protect nearby foundations from settlement, wall stability during excavation and construction, and lastly, the applied hydrostatic loads when groundwater is present.
