SuperPile 2014 – Pilling design and construction conference
Seven of the Deep Foundation Institute’s Technical Committees have combined their industry experience and resources to develop the technical program for SuperPile 2014 in Cambridge, MA (near Boston). The two-day event will feature presentations on Driven Piles, Augered Cast-in-Place/Drilled Displacement Piles, Micropiles, Marine Foundation Construction, Testing and Evaluation of Foundation Systems, Seismic Design and Drilled Shafts. To complement these presentations, 40 manufacturers and suppliers will share the latest technology and services available to the deep foundations industry in the Exhibit Hall.
Presentations will focus on local and out-of-state case studies, theory and design with emphasis on practical application, new technologies and ideas for future development. There has been interest in an increasing use of high capacity foundations based on recent changes in building codes and AASHTO specifications. In addition, the design-build method is becoming more routine on DOT projects. Some of the challenges associated with these topics will be discussed.
