Be Thankful for Steel This Thanksgiving Holiday
Thanksgiving is that time of year when we come home, enjoy a meal with the people we love and recount the things we’re most grateful for. A lot of times, we remember those that directly affect us. Thank you for the food that we’re enjoying right now. It must have taken hours to prepare. Thank you for the new job and the new car. Thank you for bringing back our family back for another year to spend together. These are all amazing things to be grateful for.
Steel Manufacturing is Something to Be Thankful For
It’s also important to be thankful for the things that make our lives safer and easier, no matter how indirectly it affects you. To remind you of some of the things that steel manufacturing has brought into your life and the lives of many others who rely on it, here are a few reasons why you should be thankful for steel this Thanksgiving.
Ships and Docks
A cruise around Europe requires a sturdy ship that will endure the constant tossing of the waves. It’s on a dock that it’s repaired and maintained, so it can take more honeymooning couples and excited retirees all over the world’s coasts.
Planes, Trains, and Cars
Seeing your family and friends who live in different states is now easier, thanks to planes, cars, and trains. They’re not all completely made of one metal these days, but parts of them are still completed using steel.
Buildings are sturdier because they have stronger frames. They’re also faster to build, so they’re cheaper for you to buy or rent. It’s not just the frames either. Most construction requirements are made wholly or in part steel — from the cranes and wrecking ball to the saw and the nail gun. Constructions is easier and more effective because of steel.
Aesthetic and Art
To beautify buildings and rooms, architects and designers often add steel accent pieces — like an ornate roof or pillar — that differentiate it from others. Steel is the perfect way to make any space look sleeker and more modern. There are even artists who have dedicated their craft to the manipulation of steel. Its malleability makes it versatile and easy to incorporate into any design.
Cooking and Cutlery
The dinner you will be enjoying over Thanksgiving is probably cut by steel cutlery, made in a steel pan or casserole and cooked over a steel stove. That’s how much use you get out of one metal.
There are so many more industries that use steel, but hopefully, the reasons above are enough to convince you that steel is a metal we should all be grateful for.
